How to use it
- Tap your status when it changes: Driving, On duty (not driving), Off duty or Sleeper berth. The time is recorded to the minute. A mis-tap can be undone from the bar at the bottom, and a second tap within a minute simply replaces the first.
- Starting mid-shift? Use "Add a change at another time" to enter when you came on duty. The calculator assumes you had a full 10 hours off before your first entry.
- Fill in earlier days for the 60/70-hour total. Type the on-duty hours for each day from your ELD, or let the calculator count them once you have logged a few days here.
- Fix an entry from the log: Edit lets you change its time or status, or delete it.
How each clock is counted

What it does not do
- Split sleeper berth. A 7/3 or 8/2 split can pause the 14-hour window (how the split works). The calculator does not apply it, so after a split it will show less time than you actually have.
- Exceptions: the two-hour adverse driving conditions allowance, the 16-hour short-haul extension, the 150 air-mile short-haul exception, and agricultural and other exemptions in 395.1.
- Bus and motorcoach drivers work under different numbers (10 hours driving, 15 hours on duty, 8 hours off) in 395.5.
- It is not a logbook. It does not replace your ELD or paper record of duty status, and an inspector will not accept it as one. Use it to plan, and trust your ELD for the record.
Questions
Does the 30-minute break have to be off duty?
No. Since the 2020 rule change any 30 consecutive minutes not driving counts: off duty, sleeper berth or on duty not driving, such as fuelling or a stop at a receiver. The calculator counts it that way.
When do I get hours back on the 70-hour clock?
At midnight, the oldest day of the 8 drops out of the total. The Cycle clock shows how much comes back tonight. A 34-hour restart (34 consecutive hours off duty or in the sleeper) resets it to zero.
Does a break stop the 14-hour clock?
No. The 14-hour window runs on regardless of breaks, meals or waiting time. Only a qualifying split sleeper berth period is excluded from it, and this calculator does not apply that.
Where is my data stored?
In your browser’s local storage on this device. It is not sent to us or anyone else, and it stays until you clear it or clear your browser data. Opening the page on another phone starts an empty log.
Is this accurate for my ELD?
It applies the same federal limits, counted to the minute, but it only knows what you tap. If the two disagree, your ELD is the legal record.
