Public rest areas, welcome centers and similar sites with truck parking, from the federal inventory kept by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. Listed by highway and mile marker, with the number of truck spaces.
The largest concentration is in Na: 228 of 1915 (12%). Other cities covered include N/A (18), Cook County (8), Erie County (6), Perry (6), Jackson (5), and 1084 more.
By county, the 1915 entries fall across 651 counties; the largest are Na (221), Jackson (16), Jefferson (16), Lincoln (16).
These 1915 entries come from a register that publishes no listing dates at all. For those, the only thing that can honestly be said is that the facility appeared in the state register when it was last refreshed, on September 22, 2026. No issue, renewal or expiry date is shown for them, and none is guessed.

Why the hours rules make parking a compliance question
For a property-carrying driver, 49 CFR 395.3 sets the day: no driving without first taking 10 consecutive hours off duty (395.3(a)(1)), no driving after 14 consecutive hours from coming on duty (395.3(a)(2)), no more than 11 hours of driving in that window (395.3(a)(3)(i)), and a consecutive 30-minute break before driving once 8 hours of driving time have passed (395.3(a)(3)(ii)).
Every one of those limits ends with the truck stopped somewhere. When the clock runs out and the nearest space is full, the choice is between parking somewhere unsafe and driving over the limit. Knowing which rest areas ahead have truck spaces, and how many, is the planning that avoids that choice.
What is in the list
Each site comes from the National Transportation Atlas Database layer of truck stop parking maintained by the Bureau of Transportation Statistics: mostly public rest areas and welcome centers on the National Highway System, with the route, direction, mile marker, county and number of truck parking spaces the inventory records. On each state page the sites are grouped by highway and ordered by mile marker, which is how you look for them from the cab.
What it does not show
- Private truck stops are not in this federal inventory; the chains and independents are listed separately under Truck Stops, from OpenStreetMap.
- Live availability is not in the inventory. The space count is capacity, not how many are free now.
- Weigh stations are not listed anywhere in this directory: no national list of them is published, and the open map data does not identify them reliably.
- Closures: rest areas close for works. The inventory is not a closure notice; check the state transportation department before relying on a site.
